Doctors of twitter, in 2021 try these simple habits below which I gathered from watching my attendings over the years. They allow you to show genuine empathy while dealing with your patients.

#MedTwitter
- Sit down while listening to patients with extensive medical history

- Be conscious that while its all routine for you, every aspect of the patient's hospitalisation is new and frustrating
- talk to patients about who you are when you're not a doctor

- never remain silent while performing a procedure on an awake patient

- imagine yourself paying for it from your pocket before ordering labs, imaging or medication
- Get to know the patient's family, if the family is relaxed, the patient is

- Most patients love to tell you about their work, how many kids they have, and how their life was before getting sick

- add important life events they mention in your note so you remember it later
- You are not obliged or urged, but sometimes allowing the patient to get in contact with you after their discharge makes them feel safer than all discharge instructions, but use it wisely
