1/ Updates on https://katika237.com/incident/
I have been very busy the last two months catching up and would like to extend my gratitude to @MimiMefoInfo, @LOeil_du_Sahel @SembeTv @CrisisGroup, my main sources of information on the Anglophone Crisis and Boko Haram related incidents
2/ 2015 was by far the deadliest w.r.t. #BokoHaram in Cameroon but as we thought it was over, 2020 has actually recorded more incidents, less deadly, probably showing a pattern change (more looting...). Nevertheless this year has been deadlier than the previous two
3/ adding more experts on the subject and hopping this platform can be of help for more in-depth analyses @hansdemarie @TomaszRolbiecki @VincentFoucher
So far we have recorded on Cameroon side over 1000 incidents and 2700 deaths. The figures are certainly much higher
4/ A "pattern" I noticed, not sure if it means anything, but quite often it's almost as if Boko Haram had a 2 months cycle of attack whereby in one month they'll intensify attacks and the next "re-group" (still deadly)..and so on
These graph gives a monthly view of 2019 and 2020
5/ On the Anglophone Crisis front, the situation is very different. We had few incidents in 2016 and 2017, but it escalated very fast in 2018. As of 2020-12-23, we have recorded 1142 incidents and over 1800 deaths.
6/ 2018, 2019 and 2020 were virtually non-stop atrocities throughout in the NW/SW with yearly peaks in
May 2018
Aug 2019
Feb 2020
We saw some hope after Ngarbuh and mobilization around #EndAnglophoneCrisis and #JusticeForWazizi, death toll decreased ...
7/ but June and Jul 2020 were quite terrible. Nevertheless, 2020 shows a decrease in lethality of attacks but the number of incidents seems quite sustained probably more targeted like the Kumba massacre?
8/ My hope is that the platform would help experts conduct more in-depth analysis hence tagging @africatechie @dibussi @KahWalla @ChrisFomunyoh @iayongwa @billyb2009 and probably missing a few, sorry
9/In 2020 I plan to spend more time on @CMRNewsAgency who is doing an incredible job

I'll soon add a functionality for users to generate reports in pdf format
so stay tuned on https://katika237.com/incident/

PS: There is still lots of work to do with refining locations, data accuracy..
