NFTs that enable exclusive / unique experiences (what @ianjohnlee envisions) is coming in big in 2021. It's easier to make the assets first and then build the experiences after, and these are coming up in a big way.
You'll see the following NFT enabled experiences in 2021:
You'll see the following NFT enabled experiences in 2021:
- NFT exclusive events. From raves in @decentraland to virtual conferences with NFT tickets, your wallet with the right NFT will be the gateway to exclusive events next year.
- NFT permissioned chat servers: Discord and Telegram servers will be available in full only for those that have the right NFTs in their wallet. This is already happening, but will be more prevalent next year.
Social signaling - gain reputation by having certain NFTs in your wallet. @DAOfiDEX is looking deeply into this. @poapxyz enables this too. Like how Defi airdrops new tokens to certain token holders, exclusive NFT holders will be regarded with status by its community.
Physical + digital NFT artwork is going to explode in 2021. @beeple pulled off the biggest NFT art drop in 2020 partly by the promise of an associated physical artwork to NFT holders. NFTs with physical versions will be valued more highly by NFT art collectors.
NFT interoperability will finally have its moment to shine in 2021. Guilds such as @YieldGuild will have its members' NFTs give special access in different games. As the Metaverse ecosystem matures, more attention is paid to having assets usable in different worlds.
NFTs are not a fad, they are simply a different asset class / data structure that lives on the blockchain, coexisting with fungible tokens and serving a different purpose. So much has happened with NFTs in 2020, and I'm looking forward to what we come up with in 2021. /end
