My year-end thoughts:
1. The best of Twitter is in DMs. You can learn a lot reading, but you open up a bunch of doors when you get to know people.
2. Starting something is better than nothing. Better ideas surface when you work on something - anything.

3. Side projects can evolve. Even if you can't code, you can build something. Plenty of success stories this year with newsletters, communities, info products. Start something.
4. Sometimes it takes a while before things are looking up. I started Swipe in January, launched Oct.

5. Trust your gut and be okay with ignoring everyone else, even friends. It's risky, but there's something to it.
6. People will doubt. Use that as fuel.
7. If you treat everything as an experiment, then you can never fail. Test, analyze, learn, adjust.

8. You can engineer your own connections just by reaching out to people. Serendipity is great, but it has a gas pedal and you can press on it.
9. 5 good friends will help you more than 1000 followers.

10. Good people will go out of their way to help you, even if it means nothing in return for them. Keep those people around you.
11. Block all negativity in every shape and form. I did this and it has done wonders for my emotional health this year.

12. Community building is pretty hard. I never thought I'd be starting a community, this year or ever... but here I am ;) Will it work? Who knows... but I'll try and see what happens.
13. Never doubt Bitcoin

14. Money is a great motivator - one of the best.

15. We fill our time with work. If you want to work less, just have less time. This year I've been very short on time.
16. Build things that complement one another. You get network effects.
17. Do one important thing per day. Forget lists.

18. Focus on one thing and remove all other distractions. I make this mistake often. However, it's hard to know what to focus on if none of the things are working in a way you want them to work. It's the eternal struggle.
19. To make cold email work, align the incentives with the person you send to. What's in it for them?
20. Ship the ugly version. Fix it up later. This may explain why my designs are often broken on mobile the first time around ;)

21. You wouldn't walk up to a stranger and ask them for a 30-minute call in a few days (with nothing in it for them), so why do it online?
22. So many people lurk without participating. It's really easy to stand out just by not being quiet.

23. I reviewed over 80 @IndieHackers projects and in roughly 50% of them, I had no idea what the website was about at first glance. Get as many eyes on your website as possible. Ask them to record their thoughts while they look at it.
24. It's never a waste of time if you focus on helping others. So if you find yourself wasting a lot of time on your own stuff that leads nowhere, try helping others instead.
25. Paid resources are some of the best ways to level up. It's not to say that there is not a ton of value in free information, there is, but you can save years just by paying for something.
26. People impulse-purchase info products all the time. I learned that many of my customers never even looked at the file. Not even once. Do with this info as you please.
27. People, even smart ones, fail to price their time appropriately. You can always make more money but you can never get back your time. Think about this with every little thing you decide to do on your own.
That's all I have to say for now ;) Happy New Year!
