I love this time of year. The time where everyone reflects on the past 12 months trading, and what a rollercoaster ride itâs been!
Whether youâve made gains, traded sideways or even lost, the important thing is that you keep on reviewing and learning. No one is perfect.

For me 2020 got off to a flyer but unfortunately I spent the whole of February away from markets enjoying life, right when covid started to kick off and I wasnât paying attention! As I was heavily weighted to O&G I took a pasting. However I reviewed, looked forwarded and adapted.
A quick flip from O&G plays to speculative Pharma paid huge. Also a few swings on indexes and commodities along the way helped Q2 become my best ever quarter and by a long way. Iâm sure many found the same.
Q3 and Q4 has no doubt found some new money out. Chop city!! No doubt that will continue to some extent into 2021 but personally I think itâs time for the FTSE to show the world what itâs made of. We are still a long way off highs and a lot of uncertainty should now be cleared.
2020 has shown us how quickly and dramatically things can change, for better and worse. You need to be nimble in this game and keep looking forward. If youâve had a tough time, remember, it wonât last forever. If youâve had a great year - donât get complacent!
I wish everyone an incredible 2021. Hereâs to plenty of rockets and hopefully a few more holidays!!
