clearly the boy is self absorbed, narcissistic, and doesn't seem to care about her. the song would've been so much better if she focused on that aspect instead of joking about him being gay but not gay
it's so infuriating bc "i kissed a girl" is in the same album (which i know has its own criticisms) she embraces queer experimentation only to dis queerness a few tracks later
one of the boys is strong album and ur so gay is sonically so catchy it deserves stronger lyrics
if we had more lyrics like this this song would be such a serve!!
the song came out in 2008 so i don't think it should be held to the same standard as a song that came out today. katy has learned to be a better ally since then but when we praise her allyship to the lgbtq+ community we can't completely ignore her past harm to the community
her mistakes should be acknowledged so katy and other artists don't make the same mistakes again
queerness isn't just a costume for artists to wear for profit and take off when it's becomes "inconvenient"
