1/ It’s good to see that as we put pressure on the CCP for their lockdown fraud, the chorus of “we can’t blame the CCP” is getting louder. This is unsurprising, as Chinese state media has officially embraced this talking point—a signal its troll army and collaborators follow. https://twitter.com/chenweihua/status/1342404019487191041
2/ The idea that “we can’t blame CCP” depends on one of three fallacies:
1. CCP didn’t take the actions they obviously took.
2. CCP’s actions were insufficient to produce the harm they obviously produced.
3. CCP can’t be blamed for causing the harm they obviously intended.
1. CCP didn’t take the actions they obviously took.
2. CCP’s actions were insufficient to produce the harm they obviously produced.
3. CCP can’t be blamed for causing the harm they obviously intended.
3/ Efforts to recall useful idiots like Gavin Newsom are highly encouraged. But Xi won’t care if we recall Newsom. Neither will Newsom for that matter. Newsom’s just a marionette. Xi will find another. The threat of arrests and decoupling, by contrast, might earn CCP’s respect.
4/ Holding CCP accountable means focusing especially on the cadre of influential individuals who seem to have known lockdowns were Xi Jinping policy, but still supported them unquestioningly because of their ties to the CCP or indirect financial conflicts. https://newseu.cgtn.com/news/2020-02-26/-Copy-China-s-response-to-COVID-19-WHO-expert-urges--OnNfwORI3u/index.html
5/ Shockingly, despite all the clear evidence, I’ve seen no indication that any law enforcement agencies have investigated CCP influence on lockdowns. At this juncture, “we can’t blame CCP” means no such investigation should even happen. That's terrifying. https://twitter.com/MichaelPSenger/status/1327246432684929024?s=20
6/ I’ve been doing all I can to shed light on CCP's lockdown fraud, but I’m just some lawyer doing too much pro bono work. I don’t have police powers. The fact that my work may be the foremost investigation into the obvious CCP-lockdown connection is bad.
7/ The worst case scenario is that lockdowns go down as just another event like the 2008 financial crisis—“it just happened”—and no justice is done. That’s what CCP wants. There’s significant evidence of premeditated science fraud, and we need justice. https://twitter.com/richardhorton1/status/1280617079960371200
8/ Would it bother me if America went full Robespierre and rounded up all the officials responsible for lockdowns? Not really, but it won’t happen. The only way to get justice is by proving undue foreign or financial influence that affected policymaking. https://twitter.com/saifedean/status/1344283482407768064?s=20
9/ What evidence is there that CCP has this kind of influence? Well, they’re holding millions in concentration camps, and somehow leaders think that’s ok. They tear up treaties like ticker tape, and somehow leaders think that’s ok. https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-12-30/europe-s-big-investment-deal-with-china-is-a-mistake
10/ CCP influence is whispers and nudges. It’s the editor or dean who won’t let you criticize CCP. It’s the politicians who says you have a bright future if you don’t blame CCP. It’s the fake “China hawks” who never accuse CCP of anything with teeth. https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/china-has-been-successful-in-ramping-up-its-influence-in-victoria-20200522-p54vnp.html
11/ How do we know this is happening? Because foremost China experts know it is. When the foremost academics are suddenly the biggest hawks, shouting “This is a totalitarian regime! We need to decouple!” you know there’s a problem. https://twitter.com/BaldingsWorld/status/1276060094136848386?s=20
12/ In the 1930s, another regime built concentration camps and tore up treaties. Today it’s common knowledge the world should have listened to folks like Winston Churchill and intervened. But was it really so obvious then?

13/ What if we’re wrong? What if, by “blaming CCP” (i.e., gathering evidence for an investigation) we somehow encourage the world to decouple even though lockdowns weren’t planned? Well, the CCP might collapse and poor Xi might have to close his concentration camps. Boo hoo.
14/ The point is to win this war of laws and narrative today so our kids don’t have to fight a war of bombs and trenches tomorrow.
15/ As the world wakes up to the smoldering crater left by lockdowns, people are going to be wondering who’s responsible. The “we can’t blame CCP” chorus will grow deafening. Don’t be fooled.
