At a CoreCivic facility yesterday, I saw 3 guards filling out paperwork to get a Covid vaccine. 2 said they would NOT be get it because it has a microchip in it. 1 of the refusers said she’d had Covid and “nearly died.” She then continued to tell the others not to get the shot.
I said I’d take their shots if they didn’t want them. An incarcerated man overheard and said he’d absolutely wanted to be vaccinated: He was high risk. Ultimately, 2 of the 3 declined to get a vaccine. In a facility that had over 1100 people contract Covid in August.
On a micro level, what’s @CoreCivic doing to encourage vaccination among its employees? Here’s an idea: vaccinate the people in custody first. On a macro level, Covid is plenty deadly on its own, but it’s getting a big assist from misinformation in TN. What do we do about that?
