this nye I'm making a lamb roast and trying out some craft beers! (not all of them, just trying a few. drink responsibly!)

last year I hosted the live cross to the early fireworks and had a prime spot on the harbour. both are gonna be magic cause I have my girl by my side đź’“
look I know 2020 was a bit of a trash fire but in some ways it was also one of the best years of my life, and I wanna share all the good things that happened (long thread many picture)

I got a really good wok
I got to take teja to a really fancy restaurant that I'd been wanting to try, that cooks south east Asian food with native aussie ingredients. cool to try a high dining take on dishes my mum makes!
I saw some really bad flooding, but my thankfully and blessedly my family was okay. some stuff got damaged, but nothing irreplaceable. through the disasters of 2020, I'm thankful my family was safe
teja and I sent each other valentines flowers from a state away. I still have mine, dried, on a shelf. (sorry a lot of this is just gonna be sappy things about teja deal with it)
celebrated pride with the ABC! I was supposed to go on the float but unfortunately was unwell on the day. heaps sad I missed it, but pls still know i am the ABC's premier gay
I got to go on whovians, twice! and see old mate boggo again (I miss him)
my beautiful friend @jiggsy taught me how to cook good steaks and now I can cook good steaks (thanks jiggs)
when covid first hit in march, teja and I ran away from Melbourne to Sydney together. we thought it'd be for a few weeks maybe, as things "settled down", but joke's on us it's forever now!
the time teja jokingly told boats to get in the front seat then he wouldn't leave,
the time he was scared of the escalator,
the time he wanted to hang out but my poo smelled,
the time he was a lumberjack,

boats was excellent as always
that one day I was having a super tough time of it - I cried and didn't speak a word from the time I woke at 8am til 4pm. i couldn't look at myself in the mirror, so teja turned them all around. she was so patient, loving, and just took care of me. she is so good for me.
we adopted a rat!
we filmed a whole darn TV show remotely from home. i think over 30 episodes of the season were at home. our team did an INCREDIBLE job at not skipping a beat, being agile and finding solutions during a time it felt impossible to be positive
boatmeal had a bad run of health issues. he broke a tooth and had it removed, had an infected wound, and diarrhoea from pain meds for two weeks. he was in a cone for what felt like months. lots of love, care, and early mornings to get him right
I filmed a short series with ABC education about the east Australia current, and did the best off the cuff, one take walk and talk of my life
on my birthday I got THREE cakes and bought myself a little fossil kit where you dig bones out of plaster (it slapped)
I got a new camera, improved my photography heaps, and took this: my most favourite picture of my dad (straight from camera)
got my carpet steam cleaned! and then ended up buying a small spot cleaner myself, so now I can deal with problems (poo) as they arise (shoot out of my pets' buddy holes)
went and bought takeaway pizza then sat in the park, in the dark, so we could go on a date after months of being stuck inside
teja did a whole bunch of gardening and our balcony so lush. in fact, she turned my house into a home. it never felt like home before she moved in. (before and after pix of her moving in)
celebrated our first year of the rest of the years together. sure, it's extremely uhaul lesbian of us to have moved in together after 6 months and be saying we're going to be together forever, but when you know you know đź’ž
went on great hikes with great friends. it was one of the few social things I could keep doing during covid, and it slapped
did this photoshoot using a timer that I was super happy with. I got the look I wanted and was heaps proud
bonked my head twice in one day and might've had a mild concussion. lay on the floor for 45 minutes while teja say on the bed and judged me (and kept telling me to keep the frozen peas on my bonk spot)
got a macro lens and took some great photos of bees. photographing bees is one of my favourite things to do now
when covid was more settled, we managed to go to a BAR or RESTAURANT a handful of times. it was nice to feel normal and hold hands at the table and eat food we didn't cool (plus no dishes!)
teja's stuff FINALLY got carted from melb to syd after MONTHS. she moved in proper. this is her home and it feels like her home. no take backsies
