Yup. The woke left uses indigenous ppl as a projection for whatever they happen to be into at any given moment. Since the 80s, they've been, by turns, pacifists, environmentalists, feminists, & communists. The amazing thing is that it is progressives (at least here in Canada) who are always insisting most fervently that we honor indigenous history. And yet they're the ones who've turned those histories into ludicrous fictions about pronoun-sharing eco-smurfs
It's essentially a white cult of grey owl bullshit, which sadly is now embedded in curricula; and is even championed by some indigenous activists, who realize that parroting white woke noble savage fantasies is the path of least resistance when you're dealing with this crowd
I have this recurring image of a time traveling CanLit editor or arts grandee being transported back to an actual indigenous society from a few hundred years ago. It would be both completely hilarious and also quite horrifying
I do feel like they would keep him around for laughs, though.... at least until his vegan dietary requests and land acknowledgments became too tedious to endure.
