It's quite useless to try to insult a Cina by calling him/her a Babi. The world Home or Family (家) is literally a Roof (宀) with a Pig (豕) underneath

In the good old days if your house has a pig, it's a nice home. If your house is double storey with a pig, you're wealthy (豪)
The swine is domesticated in China 8,500 years ago. Compare to a cow, a sow matures in 8 months, gestate for 4 months and produce up to 10 piglets, requires less space. A heifer takes 2 years to mature, gestate for 10 months and produce 1 calf, requires a pasture to graze.
Scientifically speaking, most cultures are very careful (and sensitive) with handling swine/pork due its perceived hygene and susceptibility to various human diseases.

This is because pigs are omnivorous, so early chinese kept them at home and fed them leftovers.
This led to raising pigs in a crammed spaces & close proximity to the animals. Pigs also has no sweat glands, so they need to wallow in mud to keep cool. When raised in small spaces, they are forced to wallow in mud with their own faeces, leading to the perception of being dirty.
Genetically, the pig's dna is 84% similar and the last common ancestor with homo sapiens is 80 mil years ago. Compare that to a cow, 80% and 92 mil years.

Plantation near human homes also attract bats, which increases the chances of potential zoonotic mutations and outbreaks
