My rage at @HawleyMO comes from having seen democracy in other countries decay, & the result. I dont doubt that, if the House had shifted a few seats, a party that cant win the popular vote would reverse the election. I know what happens: Mobs would raid homes of politicians.../1
...their families would be kidnapped, car bombs would explode at airports and the office buildings of corporate contributors who brought this destruction. A war would begin, and the military would be used to put down pro-democracy protesters, just like in China. But.../2
...it wouldn't play out the same. Everyone would be armed. Worse, we would then be the biggest threat to global security in the world. An unstable country with the kind of military we have would be universally seen as a threat. I could not imagine where things would go from.../3
...there, but it would be bad. People like @HawleyMO are depending on one thing to try to overthrow elections: Slavery. The quirks in our country's Constitutional system that allows for minority rule were a direct consequence of the split between anti-and-pro slavery states.../4
...this will end badly. American democracy is not sustainable when people like @HawleyMO are willing to attack it in support of conspiracy theories that have literally no evidence to support them. These are excuses, not explanations. Like for any anti-democratic apparatchik.../5
...people like @HawleyMO are about power. Theyre willing to crack democracy, to send us down a rat hole of eventual destruction, to take advantage on quirks built into the system to appease slave-owning states, for pure personal power. They deserve the hatred of every patriot../6
...who sees this for what it is: An assault on our country by people supposed to defend it. @HawleyMO and his contemptuous ilk have set us on the path to end the American experiment. And theyre too stupid to see it. They just see delusions of 2024. We might not make it that far.
