Holyrood was an establishment designed to empower Scots to improve education, health, justice, transport and public services at a local level. It is instead an enfeebled sham occupied by MSP’s with little apparent interest in these policy areas and questionable abilities.
Today, instead of working on Scotland’s many issues and problems, within the remit of MSPs to address, they held a debate and vote on Brexit; a subject out with their legal competencies. It had no point, weight or consequence. It was self indulgent. It was pointless.
On the day that the marvellous efforts of British scientists at Oxford university secured approval for a coronavirus vaccination, why were our MSPs not discussing and debating the roll-out programme for inoculations?
Holyrood’s standing has fallen greatly in the past few years. It is not improving the lives of our citizens. It is not a hotbed of ideas and good law making. It’s becoming a laughingstock and actually rather embarrassing.
The Salmond enquiry is an expensive farce. That and Humza Yousaf’s so called “hate crime” bill are the most recent embarrassments with ineffectual politicians spending their time on ineffective exercises.
It’s long past time Holyrood was shaken up. It’s time the inhabitants were reminded of their legal competencies and taken to task over education, health, council services. Time they were working on our priorities and not on their own delusions of grandeur.
