BREXIT RANT: Today I find out that thanks to Brexit, from the 1.1.2021 (yes in 2 days time) the CE mark that demonstrates our products conform with regulations is no longer valid for the products we have in development & won't be valid on ANY of our products from 1.1.2022. 1/🤬
This means all our packaging has to be changed & we need to re-assess EVERY product we have developed. Not only that, the new UKCA mark doesn't cover Northern Ireland, so we'll also have to get everything we want to sell into NI certified with a UKNI mark as well.
The immediate financial cost of this to my small business is around ÂŁ20,000!!! I WISH I had that sitting in the bank!! Add in the ongoing costs, not to mention the loss of revenue from inevitable loss of income from NI nor the increase costs in all areas of the supply chain.
Add to this, increased shipping costs (cost of postage itself + additional admin, paperwork & time) and there is no point in us exporting anymore, not even to NI.
Most of our customers abroad are schools, they can't take any more costs & we can't swallow it, our margins are already as tight as can be.
Yep, Brexit is great for small business, it makes our economy so strong... RAGING!! #BrexitDisaster
