The Senate quorum is starting now.

Senators are are marking their attendance right now.

Both the $2000 checks and NDAA veto override are in play. Senator Sanders is expected to filibuster for the checks, with Dem leadership objecting to this.

I will be keeping updated on this
The Senate is now voting to begin debate on the override of President Trump's veto of the 2021 NDAA.

This is the vote in which Senator Sanders has pledged to delay and filibuster until New Years Day.
To be clear for everyone, there are two issues on the floor tonight:

- Overriding Trump's veto of the NDAA, our defense budget
- The $2000 checks

Bernie is trying to hold up the 1st vote in order to force a vote on the 2nd. Dem leadership opposes this; wants to pass override.
The vote to begin the debate is currently 63 YES, 9 NO.

Some of the NO votes include Sanders, Warren, Paul, and Markey.
Senator Harris voted YES to begin the debate on the NDAA.
Senator Klobuchar also has voted YES to begin debate on the NDAA.
To be clear for everyone, this is a vote to simply begin debate on the override of Trump's veto of the NDAA--not on the vote itself.

Senator Sanders and Markey are expected to use this time to filibuster and delay this vote in order to push for a vote on the payments first.
Senator Gillibrand is also a "YES" vote to begin debate.

Once the vote concludes, we should have a roll call of the total YES and NO votes.
The final vote to begin debate on overriding Trump's veto of the NDAA is 80 YES, 12 NO.

Debate on this vote will begin.
McConnell just called to file cloture on the NDAA override veto vote.

The Senate will spend the next few days debating this.
This cloture limits the debate that can be had on the override of the NDAA veto vote this week. The cloture vote to end debate on defense bill doesn't come until Friday.
McConnell then adjourned the Senate for this evening.

Senate is adjourned until tomorrow at noon.
