“Just ditch diets”, “anti-diet” and “anti-weightloss” resolutions. A thread.
For folks, who’s survivial, acceptance or saftey has relied on participating in restrictive eating or a particular performance of “health” these messages may be inaccessible and abrasive.
This is a gentle invitation to think about the ways we might notice the allure of dieting, restriction or control around food to feel safe, productive and protective right now as we navigate the end of 2020 and beginning of 2021, in the midst of a collective crisis.
To the Dieters, weight-loss hopefuls, dreamers, and chasers. I see you 💚 and know, you are not “bad” or “wrong” for wanting to pursue weight loss.
I don’t know your “why” and I won’t assume. Intentional Weight loss attempts may feel safe, productive, protective.

I won’t tell you to stop, (although I might ask if you’d like to).
Know that your body is worthy of - medical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, sexual, self - care. As it is. Today.

Your body is worthy of living well, now.
Take care, be gentle, there’s no right way, there’s your way.
And finally, if you’re a practitioner creating and sharing this type of content, is there space for this conversation? Are you leaning into the grey? Is your content accessible or does it uphold an all or nothing dichotomy of diet culture? (Anti-dieter vs dieter).
