My Top 10 Albums of 2020: A Thread!

2020 has been an amazing year for music and I’m so excited to share my final 10, favorite albums of the year!
Honorable Mentions:

How I’m Feeling Now - Charli XCX

Alfredo - Freddie Gibbs

Windswept Adan - Ichiko Aoba

Starz - Yung Lean
#10: As Above So Below - ANKHLEJOHN

7/10

This was one of the smallest releases this year, but this abstract rap project delivered in so many amazing ways. The production by Navy Blue is both grand and minuscule. ANKHLEJOHN provides an amazing lyrical performance as well!
#9: Circles - Mac Miller

8/10

What a beautiful project. The posthumous album from Mac Miller is felt with heartfelt and calming songs that describe how Mac has come to terms with his life. The smooth production along with Mac’s warm lyrics make for such a heartwarming listen!
#8: Heaven To A Tortured Mine - Yves Tumor

8/10

This album is an amazing blend o physh rock and soul. The mix between beautiful, abrasive, and wispy instrumentals combine for a project that sounds phenomenal. The vocals always match the instrumental and nothing is out of place
#7: Evermore - Taylor Swift

8/10

Evermore was Taylor Swift’s second album this year, and it surpassed all expectations. The song writing is top notch and there couldn’t have been better instrumentals to match it. Taylor provides beautiful vocals which leads to an amazing album!
#6: Savage Mode 2 - 21 Savage and Metro Boomin

8/10

What an amazing return for this iconic trap duo. Metro and 21’s chemistry sounds stronger than ever and on this collaboration tape, it’s never been more apparent. Some of Metro’s best beats and 21’s best performances!
#5: N*gro - Pink Siifu

9/10

Wow, what a unique and unexpected project. Pink Siifu provides us with an outstanding noise project that details current day racism. This project is abrasive, haunting, and gorgeous.
#4: Flysiifu’s - Flysiifu’s

9/10

Pink Siifu and Fly Anakin join together to create the best abstract rap album this year. With production credits from Madlib scattered on the project, the flows and lyrics place perfectly. Everything sounds perfectly chosen and implemented
#3: Vergangenheitsbewältigung - Slauson Malone

9/10

What a haunting project. The lyrics and production on this EP combine for the most thought provoking release of the year. Every instrumental provides an insight into Slauson Malone’s mind.
#2: Exeter - Bladee

9/10

This album is easily the most unique one I heard this year. Bladee takes a detour on everything he’s created to create an abstract and minimalist masterpiece. Every instrumental is mind bending and like he does, Bladee uses his voice as an instrument
#1: Whole Lotta Red - Playboi Carti

10/10

Playboi Carti takes an enormous risk creating a punk infused rap album, and it pays off, resulting in a trap masterpiece. Every instrumental is other worldly and Carti’s vocal inflections and adlibs truly create something to remember
