Last week I saw some folks review their publications in the past year. I decided to look back at my own writing, some of it anonymous, beyond the blogs at http://boston1775.net and http://ozandends.blogspot.com .
Ride along, but expect some swerves.

The year started with the recent publication of "Just: A Tale of the Jitney," a short sci-fi murder mystery for tweens, published in “The Young Explorer's Adventure Guide, Volume 6” from @Dreaming_Robot: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/young-explorers-adventure-guide-volume-6-nancy-kress/1135219087
In March, @RevSpaces, @Rev250Bos, and scores of amazing volunteers put on the Sestercentennial reenactment of the Boston Massacre. A script I wrote and narrated provided context for the dramatic shooting. Video:
In May @DanMazurComics published "Hero Helper," a short comic by me and @BrendanTobin, in the debut issue of “Boston Powers,” a comic book of superhero tales for local kids: http://bostoncomics.com/boston-powers1/
In June @JourAmerRevo ran an article years in the making about the “whites of their eyes” quotation from the Battle of Bunker Hill, the good evidence Israel Putnam really said those words, and the line’s deeper roots in British military tradition: https://allthingsliberty.com/2020/06/who-said-dont-fire-till-you-see-the-whites-of-their-eyes/
In October @MHS1791 launched its online exhibit about political cartoonist Thomas Nast. I worked with talented artists from @BostonComics Roundtable to boil down Nast’s career into eight cartoons. The exhibit will be featured for another couple of days:

In November “The Atlas of Boston History,” a project steered by Nancy Seasholes and published by @UChicagoPress, received @HistoricNE’s 2020 Book Prize. I‘d helped to create the spread about Revolutionary Boston and the start of war in spring 1775: https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/A/bo39508817.html
Sadly, my last outside publication in this year was my mother’s obituary in the @BostonGlobe. I couldn’t contain all her personality and love, but I tried to honor her the trajectory of her life: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/bostonglobe/obituary.aspx?n=dorothy-a-bell&pid=197257322
