Joey Hip Hop's Top 10 Albums of 2020 (Thread)
10. As God Intended - Che Noir
Che Noir was a strong MVP candidate of 2020. She dropped 3 really good projects, with the highlight being this one. Her lyrics are phenomenal as are her topics, and the Apollo Brown production is mesmerizing.

9. Pray for Paris - Westside Gunn
Griselda owned this year, and WSG played a large role in this. P4P was the best of his three releases, and he continues to be the shining example of work ethic in hip hop. P4P sounds straight out of an art museum with luxurious beats and lyrics.

8. Manger On McNichols - Boldy James
The most personal Griselda release this year, Boldy James found his voice on strong jazz production with moving storytelling. James crafts a meaningful narrative centered around Detroit and his family that listeners will relate to.

7. King’s Disease - Nas
Proving age is just a number, Nas raps his heart out on KD in this return to form. The modern-day features work well and Nas even kills some trap beats, an impressive feat for the 47-year old who proves he still has it.

6. Alfredo - Freddie Gibbs
Freddie Gibbs completes his three-peat with a great follow-up to Bandana and Piñata. The Alchemist production is heavenly and Gibbs brings his A-game. The features are meaningful and Gibbs solidifies himself as one of the most consistent rappers alive.

5. Everything - Kota the Friend
Kota the Friend proves FOTO was not a fluke and delivers another beautiful album. He steps up his lyricism here and also brings in some big name features that all complement him well. The concept of the album is really well executed, too.

4. Detroit 2 - Big Sean
Battling back from the adversity he faced the past few years, Sean returns to his roots and gives us some of his best work yet. The features are strong and the Hit-Boy production is outstanding. The themes on this project are probably Sean's best ever.

3. Limbo - Amine
Amine continues to impress with his third album here, outperforming ONEPOINTFIVE and getting back to the high standard set by Good for You. Amine's sound evolves a ton on this album with unique production choices and further genre-bending.

2. Director’s Cut 3 - Ransom
The best rapper you may never have heard of. On this project, Ransom raps better than almost anyone can right now, and the Nicholas Craven production is immaculate. This project is one of the most unique I have ever heard.

1. Miles - Blu & Exile
Miles is the perfect mixture of heart, soul, and lyricism. The Exile production hits hard, and Blu raps on the same level as he did on the classic Below the Heavens. This album may be the best album of the past 5 years it is that good. An instant classic.

I didn't feel comfortable making an entire list for non-hip hop albums given my lack of knowledge, so here are my top 3 non-hip hop albums of the year:
Circles - Mac Miller
Before Love Came To Kill Us - Jessie Reyez
Stuck in the Sky - María Isabel
