I didn’t go to college.

I was working as a salesman at a jewelry store in the mall, when one of my coworkers told me I sucked with people.

*ironic pause*

She told me to go read a book called “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

What did I have to lose?

So..
I went to the library and checked it out.

It was eye opening. But not because of winning with people.

It was because I could learn a lifetime of lessons from a guy who was dead before I was born.

Do other books have lessons?

I started reading books instead of..
Looking at my phone when it was slow at work.

I began to take responsibility for my situation and lead others.

I wrote down main lessons from books on notecards and keep them in my pocket, looking at them through the day.

My manager wanted to promote me, and the employee..
That told me to read the book complained about my reading to the district leader.

*ironic pause*

I couldn’t read at work anymore, so I quit.

I sold life insurance because I could make good money.

I learned about finance.

One of my clients invited me to come...
Work for him.

The job required college.

The guy I replaced had a college degree.

But I showed that I could do the job, he didn’t.

I eventually replaced the guy that hired me and became sales director of the company.

The story goes on, but here are 3 amazing take always 👇🏻
1. Someone insulted me, I took their advice anyway. It changed the entire trajectory of my life.

2. You can learn anything, from anyone, for next to no cost.

3. Taking action will take you places. Wishing your situation would change will not.
