Reminded of time, long ago, when I was hired to help a software company write instructions for its latest software package. Was crafted mainly for oil industry.
The CEO sent me a copy of the book ‘Black Swan’ about unexpected, rare events. The software was to help oil rigs prevent black swan events.
You’d start with the bad event and work backward on a visual diagram, quite complex, to ensure all possibilities were covered so that black swan event couldn’t occur.
CEO gave me example of Tiger in a zoo escaping as the black swan event. What would you do to prevent that? He wanted me to throw out ideas...
about how Tiger could escape...broken fencing, maybe. So you’d write down all possible ways Tiger could escape from caged area...door left open, etc.
Then after this brainstorming, you’d add layers of preventative measures...for example, how to avoid broken fence? Maybe daily check of fence, add secondary fence, replace fence yearly, etc.
This software would allow you to organize all of this in a complex visual plus drill down to each step and each person in the plan, every avenue to prevent black swan event.
This is how I imagine Trump planning his victory. He has each avenue mapped out to the nth degree. He knows all the black swans and how to manage them.
