People always say that we seem to pick lgbtq+ characters and couples out of nowhere, but the reality is that we as queer folk have had to develop ways of hiding from the hets while still communicating with other queer ppl.

We can pick them up easier bc we live that reality. That's why it hurts so much when a character is queer coded but there's never any payoff. That sends the message that we as queer ppl should stay hidden.
The message sent by spn is that the gays should be happy to resign themselves to pining, that the queer coding of Dean never lead anywhere so he never got to be his true self, that lesbians are just softcore p0rn for straight men
I honestly would not have minded if Destiel never went canon. I would rather have had the happy ending these characters deserve. Cas confessing his love bc "happiness is in just saying it" hurt me so deep, bc I've been there.
I've been in love with someone who i figured could never return those feelings. It hurts so. bad. Every moment with her was painful. Every time i saw her it was like i was drowning.
The message that spn sent to their lgbtq+ viewers is not acceptable. Resigning to find happiness in pining, in death, or in misery is not a good message to send.
