Polis says America's first known case of the UK COVID-19 variant was a man in his 20s working in Simla in Elbert County. Polis echoes scientists who say the variant is likely present across US. "I'm proud that we detected it here in Colorado as quickly as we did," Polis says.

I'm fascinated by the decision-making that went into Colorado announcing America's first confirmed cases of the UK variant of COVID-19 yesterday but the state not mentioning they are National Guard members working at a nursing home with an outbreak.
This UK variant isn't more deadly and should be vaccine responsive - so my questions aren't suggesting a public safety issue - but more of a public information issue.

Polis thanks National Guard working at the nursing home in Simla, revealing that 100% of residents there tested positive for COVID-19. This is the facility where the two UK variant cases were found in Guard members.

Polis reminds Coloradans that if someone is trying to charge you for the vaccine, that's a black market scam. Polis says Colorado has not seen reports of this happening.

Our @SteveStaeger asks why Colorado is moving politicians and journalists ahead of people with comorbidities for vaccine access. 
Polis says vaccine priority for journalists is specifically for field journalists who interact with the public. I didn't hear him answer @SteveStaeger's question about why politicians are being moved ahead of people with comorbidities.
