Chelsea Twitter Thread...

One of the fascinating dynamics of "big accounts" is that a lot of them got their following through posting inflammatory content to rile up a section of #CFC Twitter, but then realized that it's not sustainable or even practical to continue... cont'd
So those same accounts tried to soften up their rhetoric to appeal to a broader swath of the Chelsea universe, and it worked (somehow)!

But when things aren't going well, you start to see cracks in their new normal and even some outbursts.

Why? ...... Cont'd
Because of a lot of the following that made these accounts big in the first place crave the hot-takes, but the newer followers are turned off by such behavior, believing the big account to be reasonable.

It's a real pickle.
And this is why I'm so happy that @LondonBluePod has held a consistent tone over the last 6.5 years. It's not the fastest way to get to x amount of followers, but we have cultivated the best community by remaining consistent and elevating the discussion around the club we love.
Now, this isn't to say that I haven't been frustrated with results, or missed goals, or whatever the drama of the day is....you can see my tweets just as well as I can.

But there is a difference between genuine frustration and those doing it to put on a show.
Final note: It will be interesting to see how Chelsea Twitter navigates these big accounts after they flip flop more. Will the drama win? Or will sensibility?
