For all of us coming up...

Sometimes we struggle with the things we are passionate about. Many times we get disappointed with failures. We try to do certain things over and over again but it continues to fail. I remember that at one time,
I wanted to be a successful film maker. I wanted to make a film that people will remember for years to come, and to make enough profit to sustain me.

But after making one film that made it to the Cinema and 3 tv films...I realized it wasn't working for me.
My first film was a financial failure and we barely made any money from the tv films I made.

I was a financial liability. I was literally living from hand to mouth.
2014 Afriff calabar, I met alot of film makers and conversations were had. What alot of the people I met didn't know was that I was going to quit the industry before I came - I couldn't afford to pay my rent, I couldn't afford to live. Things were...difficult.
But I had a lot of time to think during Afriff, so I decided to look at other options in the industry - I had to find a way to still achieve my dream, but follow another path. I got introduced to TV a few weeks later.
I had to opportunity to be a producer on a late night comedy show for a network and earn some money, constantly, over a period of time. 5 years later I have circled back to doing what I always wanted to do. Telling Authentic African stories but through a different medium, Tv.
You may want to star in, write or produce a big budget film or even a TV show. There Nothing wrong with dreaming. Sometimes you may be lucky to get the opportunity to shine. But if you don't and things get hard, learn to open up your mind to a different pathway other than
The one you are currently on. It's like a maze. One way may be blocked but you can circle back and find another. One thing is for sure, as long as you work hard and are consistent, there is room for you to grow and become a house hold name in Nollywood.
Also remember that it works differently for everyone so keep writing, keep shooting and keep making magic.
