“I won’t give you a moment to rest” is an interesting line. Here’s why.
In other shonen manga, there’s usually a break after a huge war arc where everyone rests to gather themselves up for the next big fight. AFO, however, isn’t giving anyone the chance to. And that is smart on his part for several reasons:
1. Almost everyone that is a Pro Hero is injured and frantically trying to save people from the aftermath of the war, so no one is looking at the high security prison right now. Even the Top Ten are unable to do anything with injuries ranging from bruises to meeting their demise.
As for the heroes that are still standing, we see that they are quickly losing faith in what it means to be a hero. Some are thinking about new occupations, while others plan on leaving the country completely. In other words, Japan is utterly defenseless right now.
2. Deku is unconscious. And good for him too because we know if he heard there was a prison break about to happen, he would destroy his body even more to stop it. But this also means that the one person that has the ability to stop AFO from taking over is put out of commission.
3. AFO knows that he’s unstoppable now because not only is the holder of OFA unable to fight, but All Might as well. And before you say Eri can rewind him back to his prime, she’s used up most of her power to bring Mirio back, and it could take months for her to gain more power.
Is there any way the heroes can win in this scenario? Only by a sheer non-existent miracle. This is the perfect time for AFO to break out of prison, and he knows it. That’s why he’s wasting no time to do so.
Hori has basically written out every possible character that could combat this prison break because AFO is going to be successful in his escape. And when he does, all hell will break loose. I believe this marks the end of the first part of the series.
I think this is where the time skip comes in, and I have a pretty good idea of what it’s going to consist of. We know that hero society is crumbling, and AFO breaking out is simply the icing on the cake, giving him the chance to take over the country once again.
But this time it’s different. There aren’t any heroes that people have faith in to stop him. OFA can’t be used in this situation because the holder is written out of the story. AFO is at his most powerful right now. All hope as we know it is lost, which is what Hori wanted.
So as for the time skip, the only thing I could think of is the future being gruesome, no heroes in sight and the citizens are under AFO’s control now. As for Deku and his classmates, they might be safe if they’re hiding in the shadows or underground planning their next moves.
But it is especially important that Deku is kept hidden from society at this state if AFO takes over, because the first thing he’ll do is find him so that he can kill him, ending the cycle of OFA. And we need him to become stronger over the years so he can beat OFA.
Overall, this arc marks the beginning of a new era for MHA, a more dreadful side of the story, and it’s all thanks to OFA’s quick actions and the fall of hero society.
Okay, those are my thoughts about what’s going to happen in the series now! Let me know your opinion and don’t be scared to share yours!
