Just watched the Burnley v Chelsea first half again and man this just confirms many things we lack right now.

That's the kind of confidence we need as a team right now. Ziyech kept on occupying central areas to link up play. We don't have anyone that does that. Havertz doesn't have the personality yet to do it, still adapting. He does have the ability.
But Ziyech kept on roaming, knitting link ups and passes together, giving his cross fields. He variates our play alone so far.

Especially for those who say Lampard is playing Werner out of position are dead wrong. Werner constantly tucked in the left halfspace and was either there or just behind Tammy. We had more bodies in the centre of the pitch closer to each other.

Mount, Havertz were getting into those areas. And turning to link up with each other. Sometimes Mount goes to the other side(right side) and form overloads to link up and create opening for reece. Werner wasn't hugging the touchline. Chilwell overlapping was.
Both Werner and Havertz got into the box more, Havertz was involved and getting late into the box exactly what you want from him. This was his last game before he got Covid so imagine if he didnt. He was getting his role.
Which brings me down to the final issue

So the easier option to create chances is hack it into the box. Mount is the only one trying to play those vertical passes. It's not enough. Jorginho didn't help matters v villa cause cause he didnt try to be vertical enough.
Mount isn't even getting to those positions where he is on the half turn. Cause on one will give him those passes. The team needs confidence and a player like Ziyech might might be what they needs to do that.
Against Burnley we were so high on confidence we constantly put balls for players in between the lines Timo was basically playing there, Chilly constantly put those balls there too, but these days no one stays in between the lines anymore, Pulisic does but he cant be the only one
Why must we have Ziyech to play well?

He is our main creative hub and he variates our play, so he is our most important attacker.

And to find a way to work without him needs Havertz to be more confident atm, Reece to be fully fit and time on the training ground to work on getting more energy into the halfspaces and taking more risks. The full fitness of our wingers only help make us more unpredictable.
But Ziyech available is paramount to helping us gain confidence cause we were still gaining confidence in how we play with him and were not ready to deal with with a period without him cause cause we haven't matured as a team yet. He's only started 5 prem games.
CHO was also injured too, so I believe this run will be over sooner rather than later and and we will go on another favourable run of good results when Ziyech is back.
