A lot of words have been written and spoken about our tactical setup - and rightly so - but one simple fact has been overlooked. Chelsea are in a major finishing crisis right now.

That, more than anything else, is the reason why we can't win games right now.
There are a lot of numbers in there so some might find it confusing. I'll try to simplify it:

A club of Chelsea's resources should always finish their chances above the mean but in the past few games, we haven't. Our finishing has been terrible. That's why we're struggling.
This is not to absolve Lampard or say he is faultless, he has made his fair share of mistakes. However, he can't kick the ball into the goal instead of Werner or our other players. That is not down to the manager. One would think these numbers should bounce back soon.
As long as the confidence/morale in the team is intact (there is no way us fans can guess what the dressing room is like), we should be able to overcome this blip.

Whether it's under Lampard, Tuchel or whoever, hopefully we stop finishing like a team of Moratas.
This doesn't mean the other criticisms (the team being too soft and whole host of other things) are wrong but rather, they're not our biggest issues. If we could finish properly, we would not be in this position. That's the main takeaway. We need a few bounces to go our way.
It is rarely black-and-white in football and most bad things are caused by multiple factors but in this case, finishing poorly in six out of seven games is almost entirely down to the players. Not the manager. They'll bounce back too.
Forget "patterns of football" (I largely think this is a bullshit criticism that is thrown around casually) and what not, the fact is our players are going through a crisis of confidence caused by finishing and influencing other aspects.

They need to pull themselves out of it.
