ARJUNA'S PREVIOUS BIRTH

Many people wonder- what was so special about Arjuna that Bhagvan Shri Krishna considered him as close friend, helped him so much, was with him in the epic Mahabharata war.

Beacuse Arjuna was anshavatar of Shri Vishnu i.e. Rishi Nara in his past life.
This is the shloka which is recited in before starting every Parva of Mahabharata.
Arjuna was addressed as Nara multiple times in Mahabharata by various Gods and people.

This is what Shri Krishna says to him in Van Parva.
Bhagvan Shiva also told this to Arjuna after his fight with him in the form of a Kirata in Van Parva.
Vedvyas himself called Arjuna- Ansha of Bhagvan Vishnu in Van Parva.
God of wealth- Kubera also told Arjuna about his previous birth in Van Parva.
Indradeva told about Arjuna and Shri Krishna's previous birth as Nara and Narayana to Sage Lomasha in Van Parva.
Bhagvan Parshurama also told the story of Nara-Narayana & King Dambodhava in Udyog Parva when Shri Krishna came to Dhritarashtra for peace talks,
Bhagvan Parashurama advised Duryodhana to not to have war and about greatness of Nara-Narayana.
Bhagvan Brahma and Bhagvan Shiva told the Gods about Nara-Narayana in Karna Parva.
Even Dhritarashtra accepts this in Drona Parva.
Bhagvan Brahma also told this to Agnideva in Adi Parva.
Yudhishthira also told Shri Krishna in Karna Parva that Sage Narada had told him that he and Arjuna were Narayana and Nara.
Devi Durga also told Arjuna the same thing before Mahabharata war in Bhishma Parva.
Shri Krishna mentioned about their previous births again in Shanti Parva.
Bhishma said in Shanti Parva, "Nara, Narayana, Hari and Krishna were 4 avatars of Bhagvan Vishnu in Satyayuga of Swayambhva Manvantara."
There is a Gupta period temple(called Dashavtar Temple) of Bhagvan Vishnu in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh.

It has some amazing carvings of Bhagvan Nara-Narayana.
