Why you should create your own SWIPE file (create what?)

& How it will make your copywriting 10X easier

// THREAD //
Swipe file is essentially a folder you fill up with other people’s ads that caught your attention

How it works:

- Take a screenshot

- Put it into your swipe file

- Go back to it when you need
Every good marketer / copywriter I know has his own swipe file

Here’s why:

- It helps you become a pro way quicker

- It guarantees you never run out of ideas for your ads

- It helps you stay up to date with all the latest marketing trends

❌Don’t just put stuff into your swipe file

âś…Revisit it regularly (e.g. every week) & take notes on each ad

Here’s an example of how I briefly analyzed Ben Settle’s newsletter email:

(pardon my scrawling)
You can dissect every ad / copy pieces the same way:

1) Google ads

2) Landing pages

3) Old newspaper ads

4) Gumroad course pages

5) Twitter bios & pinned tweets

Whatever it is - You name it
Get into the habit of screenshotting / downloading every ad that made you “WOW”

Here’s a glimpse of some of my swipe folders:
You can also find swipe files online

Usually, they come with already highlighted key points & takeaways:
