To everyone feeling pretty anxious tonight after news Victoria has community transmission of COVID-19 again: think about how much we know now that we didn’t six months ago. Masks work. Socially distancing works. Paying ppl to stay home works. We’re going to get through this

Victoria went through something few other countries did with the harshness of lockdown and it was incredibly tough. I know the idea of ever having to do that again is awful

But we have a new normal. There will be outbreaks. And we’re going to get better at stopping the virus before one or two case becomes thousands

That means if we act fast and hard we don’t necessarily have to end up with hardcore lockdowns. I’m not promising we won’t have lockdowns but... I think we’re getting better at dealing with this virus and doing what needs to be done

I think we’ve learnt a lot about what we need to do to fight it. And this next round won’t be as bad as the last in terms of measures because we’ll act fast and hard and stamp this out
