A short thread about my friend, Yogesh
In the coming days, hedge funds will have huge payoffs and wealthy people will become rich; the opening up of the economy for plundering, in the style of Russia, will begin in earnest
I worked some years ago with Yogesh, a wonderfully kind and thoughtful, generous and wise man. I joined Company X at the same time as another person, someone who could at best best described as a chancer, and at worst a fraudster
The other person had recently arrived from South Africa and had a glittering CV in HR. It became clear in weeks that they had little or no background in HR at all. The company did not wish to look stupid in their expensive hiring process, and kept them on
One day I found out that person Y earned 50% more than I did, despite not having a team, no budget to manage etc
I got quite angry. Yogesh came for a walk to help me calm down. During the walk he gave me some advice that I've always clung on to.
He said, "It doesn't matter to me what someone else earns, though that might appear that their efforts are valued more than mine. What matters is that I earn enough to give my family everything that I want them to have and that they deserve."
People will rob the country blind in 2021, what matters is that we have enough, can give our families what they deserve and stick to our morals
