If true, this is utterly inadequate.

We should be doing everything we can to stop the virus and progression through the tiers. Allowing the virus to spread has led to the mutations and made everything even worse.

I depair at this government's total failure to lead. https://twitter.com/Peston/status/1344218333701402624
Plus - where does this leave GCSE and A Level exams if some students are ordered back in school, some have school closed to them, and others are forced to isolate from unsafe but open schools?
Any announcement by @GavinWilliamson must address his insistence on summer exams
In addition, what level of 'delayed' opening? A week or two delay will be totally inadequate as the virus levels are so high. It must be a delay until February, maybe even the whole half term. And if an area changes Tiers?
Schools need certainty to plan learning!
And Primary schools? So far they have been abandoned by this govt - no plans for mass testing, no plans for distance learning.
@GavinWilliamson must speak out and tackle the spread of the virus from primary children to their parents, their teachers and the wider community.
And local authorities? They are best placed to react to changing circumstances on the ground and the levels of the virus by moving to distance learning.
Will @GavinWilliamson rein back from threatening local councils with court injunctions for taking responsible actions?
Where is the press conference? Any announcement about potential school closures needs to not be one way as there will be many questions and clarification needed.
Will this be a passive statement? How can schools gain clarity?
