Given that Trade and Cooperation Agreement already has effect as international law, there is no direct reason why UK parliament has to be rushed into passing all of this extraordinary unsatisfactory implementing legislation in one day without scrutiny

Parliament is being bounced
Am personally in favour of the agreement, given only alternative is no deal, and that it is a flexible and broad framework with permanent institutions

But that does not mean MPs should nod-along to this illiberal and undemocratic implementing legislation

There is a distinction
Even if exceptional urgent legislation was needed to get UK over the 1st January 2021 deadline, then it should be time-limited to just months of effect, with a further implementation bill that can be properly scrutinised and voted on
Opposition and backbench MPs should insist on Part 3 of the bill being subject to a one to three-month sunset clause, so that an implementation bill can then be properly scrutinised and debated
So fwiw

Even though Agreement should be supported, as there is nothing else, that is *not* the same as supporting this bill

Agreement has effect in international law, without a parliamentary vote

Anything genuinely urgent for 1/1 can be voted through on temporary basis
There is immense confusion in politics and the media at the moment between voting for/against No Deal, and voting for this illiberal implementing legislation

This vote is about a blank cheque for executive power, on the back of the Agreement, not for/against the Agreement itself
