At the start of the pandemic I was far too accepting of the official "expert" view that wearing masks wouldn't help; that there was no point closing borders; that letting big events go ahead was fine... all of which looks mad now in retrospect.

What @StuartJRitchie is proposing is really hard btw. Conformity is an exceptionally powerful driver of behaviour and on social media it's amplified. There are whole chunks of twitter that over-rate arguments from authority and others that see authority as an automatic negative.
