With the virus restrictions we've already identified which jobs are nonessential. If you've been allowed to work from home, organise with your co-workers and don't go back to work in Jan until something changes. Simple. 2/11
If your job is essential you have even more power. We've already seen so much panic buying this year, imagine the chaos if people actually couldn't buy food for a week. That would certainly get people listening. More attention means more participation. 3/11
You come up to the supermarket and there's a picket line and the shutters are down. Or better yet, the doors are wide open and no one is guarding the checkout. That is exactly putting people over profit. 4/11
Of course there are jobs that it would create an ethical concern to strike in. Hospitals are already at breaking point. They can carry on and all of this would still help them. 5/11
These strikes are already happening in many places. The largest strikes in history have been taking place in India. We need to follow that example and keep going 6/11
If you're worried about being fired, if you've only just started at your dream job, know this only works if everyone participates. Share this thread in secret with a trusted co-worker. Or with friends. Build momentum. 7/11
If you're unemployed, stay home. Easy. Don't give in to the temptation to apply for positions that companies will offer to replace the workers starving them out. Their desperation is our power. 8/11
If your family really can't survive without your work for a month or so and your boss is threatening not to pay then that's even more reason to organise. They can't risk losing their entire workforce at once. Let your co-workers come together to support your interests. 9/11
If we do this, we don't need to march on the government and risk infection spikes. We just need to stop participating in this system that doesn't work for us until we realise our own power. 10/11
