THREAD on WHO & herd immunity:
Without explanation, the World Health Organisation @WHO appears to have *changed* their definition of “herd immunity” from June to November 2020 by explicitly removing “immunity developed through previous infection” to leave only “vaccination”

And yet we all know that a vaccine works precisely by triggering the immune system through exposure, just as it would when responding to infection

Hence, the Great Barrington Declaration, written by three of the world’s top epidemiologists (including Director of the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine at @UniofOxford, Prof @CarlHeneghan, advocates embracing herd immunity

Even the New York Times recognised that natural immunity is powerful with Covid-19, which is not in the least bit surprising. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/17/health/coronavirus-immunity.html
And as I said in September, the @BMJ_Open has already reported on a promising study suggesting that 20-50% of people *with no previous exposure to Covid* appeared to already have T-cell immunity from this virus. Many of us may already be immune without even knowing it: https://twitter.com/maajidnawaz/status/1306946093826150403
So why did they do this, and surreptitiously?
We know that China backed WHO’s head Dr Tudros over his competitors to get the top job.
So ask is the WHO compromised? https://twitter.com/maajidnawaz/status/1341043458514022401

And no, this doesn’t mean I’m saying that vaccines aren’t an important part of our herd immunity armour, or any other petulant twitter-signalling you feel compelled to project as an excuse for your inability to comprehend the written word with precision.
