Seeing the usual Discourse going around re: How the fuck can anyone vote for an evil turtleman, and as someone who lived entirely too fucking long in the vast emptiness that was that state, let me offer my thoughts:

There's a lot of good, well-meaning people there. But you have to understand that huge, HUGE swaths of Kentucky have, at best, satellite internet. If you're not in a decently populated area, you have jack shit in regards to information flow. It is extremely limited.

Now guess who owns most if not all of the available vectors of information. The radio stations, the local TV channels, etc. Sinclair, iHeart, all those big, GOP-friendly conglomerates. "Stranglehold" is putting it lightly. It's an echo chamber.

And the message going around basically comes down to: "No matter how bad we are, The Democrats are worse." Which is hard to argue at this point, but I digress.

And they'll believe it because there's not a lot to contradict it. There's not a lot of sources to prove otherwise.

And trust me when I say that it's goddamned HARD to break that conditioning, especially when everyone around you buys into it too. I know, I tried. And I've still got my own bad habits to break from years of being conditioned to act and think a certain way.

I guarantee you the majority of people who voted for Turtleboy don't even fucking like him, but they've been lead to believe that the alternative is goddamned worse.

And of course, Kentucky is hardly alone in this regard...

Oh and also I'm almost certain the melting-candle-looking motherfucker has the voting apparatus rigged somehow because there's no bottom for these assholes, but I'm not qualified to prove that.

That being said, I still hate Kentucky as a concept and I will continue to take the long way around any time it's on the way to any place I need to go. I'd rather be in Indiana.

And Indiana fucking sucks.
