Admiral Giroir's refusal to take responsibility as well as his haste to blame the states is so on brand for him. Had the Federal Government offered the states a plan, funds, and boots on the ground this might have been the Trump Administration's first & only indisputable success.
I was under the impression that Trump planned on using the military to set up vaccination stations and have medical personnel to give the shots. It's possible that some of the states might have declined the aid but it's hard to imagine. In Florida, for example, Ron DeSantis would
happily do anything to polish Trump's...reputation. It does occur to me that there might be an optics issue; the images of soldiers and MASH type setups might play into fears about chips & tracking, etc. But I'm remembering seeing all the tanks & Humvees & Jeeps rolling into
Florida (on eerily deserted south bound I-95) as I fled north (And west. First time I made it to the panhandle. Pensacola Beach was a pleasant surprise. The people could not have been nicer welcoming the South and Central Florida diaspora) Back on track, it was amazingly
comforting. People were beeping and waving at them as they drove by. It felt like the government had our backs. It felt like the calvary* had arrived, literally. Anyway it might have been rousing, unifying, & potentially successful.

* Also amazing were the fleets of power
trucks. From Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, even some Con-Ed trucks. I imagine it felt the same for NYC when the out pf state firetrucks arrived.
This country can be amazing sometimes. Out potential is so great. It makes our failures so much more painful. Maybe the Biden/Harris
Administration will help us realize that potential; make out greatness good and our goodness great.
For anyone who made it from start to finish of this meandering topic hopping ramble, thank you.
