Whiteflies can seriously injure plants by sucking juices from them, causing leaves to yellow, shrivel, & drop prematurely.
Whiteflies (just like aphids) excrete “honeydew" on plants. The honeydew is soon colonized by fungus called (sooty mold) making leaves look black & dirty.

Generally sooty mold is harmless except when it is extremely abundant & prevents light from reaching leaf surfaces, causing plants to become stressed.
Ants love to feed on honeydew & to ensure a continuing supply, they protect whiteflies from their natural enemies (beneficials).

If the numbers of whiteflies per leaf are great enough, it could possibly lead to plant death.
Control of white flies.
- It Starts with the nursery - protect your nursery and buy from good guys.
- Use systemic pesticides from nursery.
- Use sticky traps
- Grow trap plants
- Grow repelants

- Watch your fertigation. Too much nitrogen can overstimulate succulent plant growth, prompting some aphids to reproduce more quickly.
- Grow in protected environment.

- Soaps works too, you can spray soapy water.
