I am easily provoked into fighting with dipshits, and I'll tell you why. It's not something I'm proud of. It's residual from my childhood. ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN.
From the ages of 10-15, I was a competitive gymnast and spent upwards of 5-7 hours per day (plus most weekends during competition season) with my teammates, many of whom were homeschooled by their dipshit religious fanatic parents. OH THERE'S MORE!
Because gymnastics requires so much training, gymnasts are often woefully uneducated and their moral upbringing is left entirely to their parents, teammates, and (often) whatever questionable church they attend. THERE'S MORE!
You know how Simone Biles, Morgan Hurd and Laurie Hernandez are all amazing socially-aware ass-kicking queens? That is a NEW development, borne out of a rebellion against the highly restrictive gymnastics world that enabled decades of abuse. MORE!
Back in my day, good gymnasts did exactly what the adults in their lives told them, and because they needed to train 6 hours a day, most of those adults were very conservative. Further, because gyms require thousands of square footage, they're generally an exurb/rural thing, AND
They attract a religious, conservative customer base. As such, despite being located in crunchy Eugene, OR, my gym was full of homeschooled fanatics who bullied me, the lone (secular) Jew they had ever laid eyes on, mercilessly. (Not everyone! You know who you are, good crew!) >
...despite being a fairly bright young lady (albeit one with severe anxiety that was "treated" by getting yelled at about my Bad Attitude), my teammates called me "dumb" relentlessly. (They also called me "Becky" and refused not to, despite my pleas. Again, no autonomy.) >>>
...one of the biggest owns I got was from a girl named, and I shit you not, Tauna (inexplicably pronounced Tanya), who proclaimed: "Becky is so dumb she believes we REVOLVED FROM APES." And everyone laughed. At me. Not at the 13-year-old who said "revolved." >>>
Gymnastics involves waiting your turn for limited apparatus (one vault costs like 10 grand and takes up shit tons of room, so vault practice involves TONS of sitting around), and so hours of my training were devoted to bullying at the hands of a willfully ignorant majority. >>>
...AND NOW THOSE PEOPLE ARE IN CHARGE, and it takes everything I have not to just scream and claw people's faces off all day.
