Alright, winter wear and layering thread. Here is a color coded example I will break down, it’s numbered in order it would be worn.

Layering is extremely important to prevent you from sweating during movements and getting super cold/hypothermic during stationary periods
Start at the top and working down,

We have a light base layer that helps retain heat and is easy to move in, and a light sweater

When moving with a pack your gonna get warmer than you think. You should be somewhat cold when you start your hike/hunt

3/4 add when stationary
My preference is having something wind proof/ weather resistant for my outer most layer.

Try to avoid cotton as it saps your heat when wet, which sucks when you’re cold. Again this is just an example that I would wear right now in 10f weather for a hunt
Your pants are pretty simple, same principles as above. My legs are pretty GIRTHY so I don’t really stress them, I value freedom of movement over warmth for most activities personally
Little overlooked piece of kit is a handwarmer, I like to keep a neck gaiter and pair of gloves inside of it

If you add some chemical hand warmers it will keep you real cozy regardless of temperature and activity. Doesn’t add much if any weight.
Boots/socks

For winter wear you’ll want something leather as it can be waterproofed much more effectively which saves you a lot of grief in the long run

Socks, get a wool blend and bring extras. Always bring extra socks.
(I numbered these wrong)
Quick dirty thread, absolute basics and fairly common sense. Should keep your from freezing to death on a prolonged hunt or adventure
