Upon criminal charges being filed against @realDonaldTrump, he will be arrested/allowed to surrender. He will be booked. His fingerprints will be taken. He will be photographed. His passport will be surrendered, his travel will be restricted, & he will be supervised.
Depending on the jurisdiction, he will have to satisfy bail conditions including the posting of property/cash, & if deemed a flight risk could be subject to home confinement, enforced by electronic monitoring (ankle bracelet). This will just be the beginning of his hell.
Trump will appear before the Judge assigned to his case, remotely during the pandemic, in person after. He will have no presidential privileges & will be treated like the ordinary accused criminal that he is. He will receive a mountain of evidence obtained by the authorities.
After motion practice, he will then have the option of either pleading guilty for a lesser penalty or rolling the dice & going to trial. Upon conviction, he will then be sentenced to a probable term of imprisonment along with the imposition of significant financial penalties.
It is safe to assume that Trump will face numerous charges in multiple state/federal jurisdictions given his lifetime of crime including defrauding others, tax fraud, election fraud, bank fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, sedition, & perhaps violent crime offenses.
B/c Trump will be an ordinary citizen subject to criminal charges, his cases will proceed quickly. He & the public have a right to a speedy trial. It would not surprise me that the cases at the trial level are resolved from arrest to conviction w/in 1 year & one more for appeals.
