Thread of games I played in 2020 and some thoughts on them:

For single player games I’ll mostly just focus on the ones I’ve beat

Star Wars Battlefront 2: 8/10
-I had kinda lost interest for Star Wars video games for a bit but I saw this on sale and gave it a chance and did not regret it at all
-the campaign is mediocre but holy shit the multiplayer is so fucking fun
-the attention to detail is just great

Assassin’s Creed Unity: 7/10

-most of the infamous bugs had been fixed but the game still feels kinda unpolished idk
-Parkour is hella fun and the combat is nice
-this could’ve been one of the best AC games had it had more time in the oven

AC Syndicate: 6.5/10

-combat was fun for a bit but had gotten stale fast
-having 2 protagonists that you could switch between was a good idea but unfortunately neither of them were that interesting compared to older ones

Far Cry 5: 7.5/10

-I just expect fun shooting and chaos from far cry and I got just that in this one w a really fun sandbox
-I’ll also say the ending was something I didn’t expect at all

Resident Evil 2 (Remake): 9/10

-the over the shoulder camera really provides a fresh experience to this game and adds to the horror
-this remake is mostly faithful to the original while also adding new things

Tales of Symphonia: 8/10

-the game kinda aged but it’s still fun to play and the story and characters are just so well written, fr one of my fav jrpgs

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance: 9/10

-This is the first Fire Emblem game I’ve played and it did not disappoint at all
-the combat rewards you for being able to strategize and I would always find myself going back to make sure all my party survives
-the story is pretty great too

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night: 8/10

-this is an amazing callback to traditional metroidvanias
-interesting story

DOOM Eternal: 9/10

-Raw, goat, kino, swag, cum
-killing demons is just so much more fun w all the changes this one brought to improve upon 2016 w the dashing, flamethrower and improved level and game design

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 8/10

-the game starts slow but this is well worth it due to the worldbuilding, learning about the game’s cast and setting up the story and by the time you get to the halfway point it pays off so much and gets you hooked
-combat is fun-

And lets you experiment a lot w each character and making different builds

AC Origins: 8.5/10
-breath of fresh air that was much needed for the series
-story and the new protagonist Bayek are really well done
-side quests are also pretty good

The Division 2

-played for an hour and then never touched the game again LMAO

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance: 6/10

-this game provides some interesting ideas w the dream eaters and the sleep/waking up mechanic but unfortunately aren’t well executed
-the story is decent and the ending leads well to the beginning of KH3

Call of Duty Warzone: 7.5/10

-this is probably the most fun I’ve had w a battle royale since fortnite in early 2018 and also the most fun I’ve had in a cod title since bo3

Tales of Vesperia: 8.5/10

-does all the things symphonia does just as good or even better IMO
-great story and cast of characters
-interesting side quests
-combat can be simple but it also lets you experiment w it and rewards you for doing so
-beautiful art style

Persona 4 Golden: 8.8/10

-some of the ‘Golden’ changes are welcome but I can’t say it’s a 9/10 bc of that god forsaken penultimate dungeon it adds too
-still has everything else I love from the original P4

Tekken 7: man...

I’m just happy I can beat people up w negan from twd

Tales of Zestiria: 6.5/10
-after having played symphonia and vesperia this one felt underwhelming in most departments besides the combat

Black Mesa (Half Life 1 remake): 9/10
-my introduction to half life and wow it’s fucking amazing
-it’s just so satisfying being able to pick almost anything up and throw it at people

Tokyo Xanadu ex+ : 7/10

-tries to combine elements of the Ys and Trails games but never reaches the same highs as them
-combat is really simple and is not at all one of the strengths of this game
-I found myself interested in the story and characters and they kept me going

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore: 8.5/10

-interesting take on the shin megami tensei style and makes it into a game that works really well w Fire Emblem characters acting as your demons/personas
-the protagonist is lame af but I loved all the other characters
-tsubasa shouldve-

Been the protagonist since the story is mostly written for her
-combat and gameplay are engaging and really fun
-the story was really good for the most part

Ghost of Tsushima: 9/10

-the setting of 13th century Japan and attention to detail are just great here
-the story and ending are incredible
-combat is great
-one of the best ps exclusives

Genshin Impact: 7.5/10 (MAYBE [huge MAYBE] 8/10)

-interesting world and setting
-story, characters and the lore have me interested too and I’m curious to see where everything goes from here
-combat is fun and rewards experimenting and changing things up
-since this is a gacha,-

There is the issue of having to rely on it to get good gear and characters
-this game is hoeing me every chance it gets
-dungeons are pretty fun whenever you’re able to do them in the story
-need to see what happens in the future w this game

Trails of Cold Steel 2: 9/10

-This game improves upon the first in every way and makes for a great experience
-I loved going through the each of the different areas and getting to know about the world or fighting enemies
-combat and the characters are more fleshed out

Kingdom Hearts 3: 8.5/10
-really fun combat w lots of cool things to do
-some worlds are really a chore while others are pretty great
-the narrative leaves a bit to be desired until you buy the expansion
-The DLC boss fights are some of the best in the whole series

Devil May Cry 5: 9/10 maybe 9.5/10

-Also raw, goat, kino, heat, swag, cum
-combat and gameplay are fucking amazing and so much more stuff to experiment w
-I suck at these games tbh but it’s so much fun seeing what tricks and moves/combos I’m able to pull off and learn like the-

Games before it
-each of the characters are a blast to play w
-story is great
-curious to see where the series goes from here

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War: 8/10
-campaign is decent but also has different things to do like decisions
-multiplayer can be fun but sbmm is still crazy
-zombies is great and provides a fresh experience I can’t wait for future content

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot: 6/10

-had some good ideas but it was poorly executed and ended up not being fun to play for most of it

Astral Chain: 7/10

-I had fun w the combat but I have to admit it felt like one of platinumgames’ weaker games in that department bc it felt really boring at a few points, especially the beginning
-story was boring for a lot of the first half and some of the 2nd
-forced-

Stealth sections fucking sucked
-beautiful art style
-I think a sequel can improve on all these things a lot
