Keen to hear people's thoughts on "results" vs "club identity"

When we were sacking managers every 6 months a decade ago, we had a strong core of Cech-JT-Cole-Lampard-Drogba which defined "Chelsea" for us. Regardless of who was managing, the identity was very clear.
And the success came under different managers because the players were such warriors on the pitch, supported by superstars in other positions.

Since JT left in 2016, the last of the old guard, I personally feel that identity hasn't been there around the club.
Conte, Sarri = 2 managers who had no connection to Chelsea at all. Players have come in and out. Cahill, Azpi, Jorginho, Silva captaining the team - great players who've contributed a lot to the team, but have no strong links to Chelsea and the club in general
And on top of that, success has been hard to find. Trophies scattered throughout but no dominance.

In comes Frank Lampard. Chelsea legend, arguably greatest ever player. Behind him is a coaching team developed at Cobham.
He brings through 5+ Chelsea juniors who've been at the club for years, contributing to the first team.

There's finally an energy around the club and a "Chelsea identity" again.
So let's assume Lampard isn't good enough for Chelsea as a manager.

(Personally I think he is, and will do great things as a manager)

Where does that leave us as a club?

Some names are being thrown around for manager - Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Ten Hag, Poch, etc...
More mercenary managers who will come and leave within 2-3 years. They'll bring in their own players, then leave the club with a confused identity as we rebuild again. There might be trophies in between, some success, etc...

But how much will we truly connect with the club?
My point is, what defines Chelsea? Is it just the trophies? Or is there something bigger than that, a club identity, which is also important to preserve? And if so, how do we preserve that?
