NEW: @UCHealth has been vaccinating random selection of patients over the age of 75 as part of a "pilot program". I asked if this program was approved by the state. UCHealth said there is no formal approval process for something like this. State hasn't responded to me.
Last night, @CDPHE told me "Completing phase 1A is the priority and providers and LPHAs should follow the state’s phase guidance and prioritize 1A over 1B unless it is absolutely necessary to keep from wasting vaccines."
Quick refresh of Colorado vaccine phases...

1A= Frontline healthcare workers, nursing home staff and residents
1B= Other healthcare workers, first responders
2= Essential workers, at risk people (65+ and folks with underyling health conditions)
3= General public 16-64
Yesterday, @DenverHealthMed vaccinated first responders including Sheriff Elias Diggins. As the state's guidance says people who are in phase 1B should only be vaccinated to avoid wasting vaccine - I asked Denver Health about it... https://twitter.com/DenverSheriff/status/1343626001750888448?s=20
A spokeswoman for Denver Health says the hospital is still working on folks in phase 1A and has enough vaccine to start 1B.

A spokesman for @SCLHealth, which plans to begin vaccinating EMS workers tomorrow, tells me the same - there's enough vaccine.
This is a long winded thread to say this....

We get questions all the time about how this process will work and we generally point people to the state's plan.

Perhaps that's not the best advice - and we should really be looking toward the hospital systems.
I've had an outstanding question to the state about whether or not they approved UCHealth's pilot program since 7:42 last night. Haven't received a response yet, but I'm told one is coming.
And almost 24 later, I get a cut and pasted line from a previous statement I was issued.

I'm starting to think that this plan has some flaws.
