2021's just around the corner! 🌟

👉 People gain a ton of motivation during this time, hence the people's yearly promise of betterment.

It's frustrating to start anew only to fail.

So, in this thread, I'll share tips for letting your New Year's Resolution stick! 👇
1️⃣ HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE

It's easy to blame the world for who and what we are.

Which is wrong. ❌

We are an amalgamation of our actions and decisions, no matter the degree.

👉 Take stock of yourself.

👉 Admit that you have to change YOURSELF, not the WORLD.

2️⃣ KNOWLEDGE ISN'T PRACTICE

💡 Knowledge without application is useless.

Knowing how to change yourself is different from actually changing yourself.

👉 Understand when to stop learning and start acting.

You don't need any more motivation.

You have to act.

3️⃣ START SLOW

🚢 Our lives are like ships navigating the sea.

Tiny changes in direction can lead to a different destination.

Small, consistent changes can spark a fundamental transformation.

One huge, inconsistent change can't.

Always think of the bigger picture.

4️⃣ CREATE SYSTEMS

⚙ Systems make life more efficient.

Here's two to consider:

🔐 Rules. They set the boundary between our desires and actions.

📅 Schedules. Negotiate a certain time for a task. This will set your priorities straight.

New you, or same you?

Choose.

5️⃣ CONSISTENCY OVER QUALITY

Change takes place over time.

Not in a single go.

@JamesClear put this best:

"Standardize before you optimize."

Show up, even when you don't want to.

It's easier to improve the concepts of a discipline than applying the actual discipline.

6️⃣ DESTINATION ≠ JOURNEY

Lastly, a word of advice:

It's easy to conceptualize our desires but challenging to achieve them.

Self-improvement isn't about Point A to B.

It's an uphill zigzag picking yourself up from a dreadful state.

So 👇

Learn to love the journey.
