1.Manger On Mchnicols: Boldy James, Sterling Toles
13 years in the making when Manger on Mchnicols was first released we expected another high quality Boldy album, however it was so much more.
Sterling Toles delivers some of the best production I’ve heard in a long time with jazz style instrumentals intriguing samples and so much detail in every little instrumental.
With every little instrumental showing just how long this masterpiece has been in the making.
The production is flawless and creates such a bold unique and genre bending jazz sound giving the album a dark theme. And Adding so much texture to the album providing such a beautiful platform for Boldy To work around.
From the get go Boldy James tells stories in such a vivid way and lyrically is so impressive throughout this album. With his Monotone style of rapping he puts such emotion into every verse telling stories so well and really connecting with the listener.
From the downfall of a life of crime and the birth of a child we see in Medusa to the chilling tales of the rough and crime ridden life in his home town on Welcome to 76.
With one of the most impressive moments being The sentimental yet painful tribute to his mother Mommy Dearest. As he pours such raw feelings out into his verses in a spine chilling tribute song. Really feeling so empty inside and worthless as his mother has no love left for him.
Manger on Mchnicols is more then just a piece of music it’s an experience. With the Cinematic and Groundbreaking production from Sterling Toles executed with such perfection. To Boldy James dark delivery and emotional and raw storytelling Which connects with the listener.
A truly phenomenal piece of music my album of the year and one of the best listening experiences I’ve had in a very long time.
