A thread of pure gratitude.
To the many people here who made such a difference to me in 2020, thank you. The words may not be enough, but they’re a start.

To the many people here who made such a difference to me in 2020, thank you. The words may not be enough, but they’re a start.
Let’s begin...
For the invitation to ramble, @Giles_Edwards, thank you. Your idea of @IsolatedTalks was a platform that helped me express buried thoughts, and, much more importantly, hear amazing stories from so many other, more brilliant people.
For the constant inspiration and wide open view on how incredible the world is as it spins toward new things, thank you @zoescaman. You have no idea how many of us you make smarter every day.
Your journey over the past year has been wonderful to watch, @AishaAnnHakim. I can’t wait for your book and to see you become an amazing mom in 2021. Thank you for guiding so many of us through a crap year with passion and humor.
Because staying a close friend doesn’t mean we have to live close to each other, thanks @Kam_M_Taitt. You know just how to keep me going at any tough moment. And your hot takes on movies are wonderfully wrong.
To the person who always has the kindest words and outlook on Twitter, thank you @eliistender10. I hope you understand how important your writing is to us, and I couldn’t be happier to see your success.
Just pure thanks and love go out to @rant_thony. It took years of long talks during a twisting path, but here we are. I couldn’t be more grateful to be on this journey with you.
I remain in awe of @lperistere and all you do for so many others. Your passion to bring stories to life infects anyone lucky enough to be in your orbit, and I’m so thankful to find myself spinning there.
Sending you huge thanks, @keano81, for continuing to teach me exactly what deserves my attention, and what deserves #zerofucks. Here’s to more voicenotes and fewer gifs in 2021 as I learn to be cooler.
For all the songs and playlists that broaden my musical experience, thank you, @ScotStratGuy. But I’m far more grateful for the bigger lessons you’re teaching, intentional or not.
The occasional notes and check ins mean way more than you probably understand, @tomfgoodwin. Watching you tackle 2020 as a wild ride was pretty incredible. Can’t wait for what’s next.
I’ve rarely met anyone who simply exudes more pure positivity than you, @jasonwhiting. Thanks for all your fantastic energy and the promise to hang in 2021.
Meeting you this year was so damn fun, @JoeWelstead. I know you have remarkable things in store this coming year, and it’s been an honor to connect and learn about that journey.
For the photos and the artistic support you offer to so many, you are a pure pleasure to follow here, @jlindsayfilm. Thanks for making us all realize the ways we can support each other and share in our collective dream.
I’m very thankful to you for one of the highlights of 2020, @Cavallokristen. Hoping that meet in Richmond was the first of many more in the coming years while Spike’s a Spider. It’s such a thrill to see your success this year, and to follow as much more comes your way.
Some deep-felt thanks go out to @JeffSharlet, who is not a close friend, but whose words and images meant a lot. The stories you shared continually helped put much of a very challenging year in better perspective. And sharing your book with others was a privilege.
Raising a glass to you, @aceatkins. Your writing has always meant a ton. The occasional conversations in 2020 even more. Thank you for keeping the light burning.
Thank you for Shrek and Quarantine Nostalgia this past year, @stroznuts. Your writing, energy and humor are going to take you damn far. It’s a pleasure to watch you push for everything you deserve and more.
There are certain people who are a whirlwind of brilliance and kindness. That’s you, @deepashah_. Thanks for listening in 2020 and, even though you haven’t agreed to it yet, coming to New York to hang in 2021 when Covid breaks!
A huge shout to you for an amazing 2020, @BennettDBennett. Watching you demand for change while establishing yourself as a real leader was insipirational. Thanks for the chats and support. Here’s to more next year.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the occasional, quiet, thoughtful advice from the other side of the sea, @Timleroyis. Keep the faith, bring the music.
Glad to have met you this year, @KevinRothermel. Looking forward to more talks and connecting in Richmond.
Your spirit and guidance here is heartening and wise, @AmberBenson. Thanks for helping me find more peace throughout 2020.
Thank you for arranging THE single best Zoom call of the year, @ajos, and for letting a non-family member dial in. Your positive outlook is a shining spotlight during rough times.
What can I say, but... thank you, @minaseeth. It’s been such a pleasure to connect during a disconnected year. And I can’t wait to see how you tackle 2021 and take names. It’s going to be a hell of a next step on your journey.
Your podcast was a great companion on long runs in 2020, @apierno. Thank you for your curiosity and sharing it with us during a year that needed more than a few distractions.
Staying in long-distant touch meant a lot, @AndreaNordgren. Your year was more challenging than most, and watching you navigate it with wisdom, thoughtfulness and strength was inspirational. Can’t wait to read that screenplay in 2021.
Hearing a little bit about your walkabout helped me live vicariously, @joecacola. Thank you. Now I’m looking forward to getting the grittier details soon. And hearing about where life takes you next.
To the person whose talent brings me more visual joy, jealously, and desire to collaborate and make something stunning... thank you, @elsableda. Your work is sublime. And helps me navigate dark days every time you drop a post here.
As always, every year is made better with your guidance and friendship in it, @katgordon. Thank you for sharing the ideas, insights and passions that spark my own desire to keep learning and growing. Here’s to reconnecting soon and better days.
For the humor and brilliance that you bring to any given day, in any given spot of the world, thank you for your curse-laden and caffeinated approach to the world. Your energy to find the more interesting things in life inspires me, even when I just sit still on my couch.
To one of the kindest, smartest people I’ve met here, thanks for the constant uplift @Nickhalo01. I owe you more than a few pints for helping me stay positive in 2020.
A big shout to @robynhfrost, for sharing all your creativity and brilliance during a dark year. I know you aren’t one for over-emo middle (late?) aged white dudes sharing this much on social, but whatever. It’s my tweet. So... thank you for connecting in 2020. It meant a lot.
Maybe the biggest thanks of all, for your pure and generous spirit and energy, goes to you @LaurelLu. I was blown away by how much you helped other in 2020 and can’t wait for some of that amazing karma to bounce back on you in a better ‘21.
Thanks (I think?) for the nightmares you shared and gave me during a terrifying enough year, @cj_dots. Reading some of your great stories early was a privilege and I can’t wait to see more in 2021. I’m expecting wonderfully horrible things.
I’m really grateful for the time you took to share your journey and plan with me, @genellealdred. I fully expect to get the very first galley of that book in 2021... and can’t wait to see everything you do next. Thank you.
Not sure if anyone here has more energy than you, @ttayl0r. Thank you for letting even a little of it brighten some of the darker days in a generally long and shitty year. Here’s to, you know, a few shared TikToks, great ideas, and total world domination in 2021. Cool?
Thanks for reconnecting at the end of a long year, @twf, and for keeping me motivated and inspired from afar during the whole damn time. What you’re up to is incredible, especially during hard days. And the difference you make is deep. Keep going.
Our chat at the end of a long year was serendipitous, @amyselwyn. Kindred spirits and all that. Thanks for the words, wisdom and poetry. Let’s continue the conversation soon.
