Hello! So, after 41 years, the volcano l have been researching, La Soufrière on St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is erupting in the form of non-explosive lava activity (Drone footage from @uwiseismic Facebook page). I’m here to answer questions BUT...(1/2)
...I will not be making any interpretations, sharing any opinions or making any predictions. I will be sharing the research I have done on La Soufrière and continually referring to @uwiseismic who have the responsibility of monitoring La Soufrière St. Vincent.
Both the monitoring agency, Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the University of the West Indies (UWI) and NEMO (National Emergency Management Organisation of St Vincent and the Grenadines), are very active on Facebook and work closely together. These are mainly for Vincentians.
@uwiseismic on Twitter and Facebook will be adding more info and photographs as they come in. The black mass is the new lava erupting, right next it is the old lava from 1979. The white patch on the front right is localised fumarole activity that is common. https://twitter.com/uwiseismic/status/1344118651759288323
@uwiseismic are asking anyone who have recently visited the summit of the volcano to send them photos to [email protected] HOWEVER please remember authorities have restricted access to the volcano, so please don’t put yourself in danger!
